AVAS technology
AVAS (Adaptable Vehicle Associated System) technology is a digital vehicle control technology that unites all automobile units into a ubiquitous control and communication system. AVAS allows to synchronously control all vehicle units and regard an automobile as a single object.
AVAS technology comprises a number of technical solutions, technologies of communication and parallel control of a large group of objects. AVAS offers a network solution enabling the integration and linking of sensors, executing mechanisms and vehicle control centers.
The network solution is based on identical electronic elements, a common channel and a communication protocol. In the AVAS technology a standard power cable is used as a communication channel. AVAS implements "all-to-all" communication and applies single-wire scheme in an automobile without additional communication lines.
Special AVAS communication protocol has been created and applied in the technology. The communication protocol increases information density of a vehicle communication channel to 97 % and the share of service information in it decreases to 3 %. AVAS communication protocol is compatible with CAN, LIN protocols and based on them vehicle systems. In the AVAS technology there is no priority conflict and no competition between units during data exchange.
AVAS technology contains a significant number of IT products. AVAS software implements all main control system functions and enables every vehicle unit to "see" and utilize information from other units. Data flow in AVAS is time-synchronized, this gives an opportunity to create high-quality control loops. An automobile with AVAS can be customized and configured as a personal computer with the help of program shells.
Synergy of technical solutions and technologies transforms into AVAS competitive advantages over existing on the market technologies and products.
AVAS technological potential
Achievements in the electronics sphere and a tendency for miniaturization of chips initiated the growth of the number of vehicle electronic systems and the emergence of control technologies (x-by-wire, drive-by-wire, etc.). Along with that, diversity of systems, electronic components and vehicle IT support lead to their poor compatibility, electronic system failures and the increase of costs on vehicle development and production. At the present moment several international alliances have been formed to develop unified standards in this sphere (FlexRay, JASPAR, AUTOSAR).
AVAS technology is also directed at solving problems of control, communication, standardization of electronic and IT systems in the automotive industry. AVAS is adaptable to every vehicle brand; it does not depend on engine type and functions within a wide range of operating voltage of the board network (from 5 to 75 volts). Such characteristics prove the market demand for the AVAS technology and provide the foundation of its successful implementation.
AVAS market potential
Under the influence of global competition on international automotive, electronic and IT markets the priority is given to solutions that provide leadership in cost-effectiveness and a maximum possible large-scale effect to manufacturers. AVAS technology allows to achieve economy of resources in all production cycles from vehicle design to assembling on the line and after-sale service.
Single-wire lines and elimination of power cable bundles, replacement of physical nodes for virtual ones (for instance, auto relays for a program) and ubiquitous electronic and IT components are just a few examples of reducing costs and receiving additional profits by manufacturers.
In addition to factors of economy the technology increases reliability and provides new consumer characteristics to an automobile. Vehicle options and connected to them systems can be more versatile and execute a larger set of functions. Quality and reliability of the existing systems in an automobile can be improved due to AVAS communication and integrated control.
What are the benefits of the technology for consumers?
AVAS technology based on requirements and characteristics essential for a certain class of automobiles enables the creation of vehicle autoelectronic and IT platforms. AVAS is oriented at the development of such platforms and contains necessary elements for their creation. The development of AVAS-based platforms reduces time for designing a new car model and saves production resources.
Application of platforms coupled with the production economy (components and labor resources) and the growth of consumer value increases market profit margin of an automaker and its suppliers. AVAS technology also provides the following opportunities:
- Application in the mass market segments without the increase of vehicle cost;
- Prompt and cheap retrofitting of a vehicle brand;
- Convenient after-sale service of the system and maintenance of similar electronic systems;
- Effective application of state-of-the-art IT technologies;
- Compliance with industry standards of quality and reliability;
- Decrease of automobiles withdrawn due to electronics failure;
- Support of vehicle brand characteristics (safety, dynamism, convenience, etc.).
AVAS gives consumers an opportunity to proceed to a totally new level of technologies, service and vehicle handling. The main impact on this situation have the latest achievements in electronics and flexible and adaptable IT technologies.
AVAS technology possesses a breakthrough technical ideology based on transition from successive to parallel processes. Synchronism and simultaneity of technical processes make them more effective and synergetically increase the ultimate result.
With AVAS end consumers receive more options, characteristics and useful features compared to those offered at the present moment. AVAS technology gives a consumer the freedom of choosing necessary vehicle characteristics and functions from a wide range provided by AVAS. |
